7 Years by the Sea, raising my little family and having the amazing honor of watching yours grow up as well! It has been so wonderful to see you come in over the years, I feel so lucky to be a part of this amazing little community! It’s been 7 years, let’s celebrate!!

When I think of the town I grew up in, or the places that I enjoyed exploring while traveling, I always think of the charming streets and shops that make a community feel unique. Mom and Pop shops, curated flowers, coffee and locals hanging out are what make a town feel vibrant and intriguing.

Small shops hire your kid for their first job, or your mom when she goes back to work after raising babies. They donate to your school fundraiser and share your posters and events. They host local makers who are just starting out and community events that serve lemonade to your kids. Small shops keep us connected to each other in so many ways!

Unfortunately, small businesses are dying. Competition with big box stores and rising costs are making it exceedingly difficult to sustain when we can’t play the volume game. Small business owners are PASSIONATE and we work so hard to serve our customers with value. We are trying to play the service, the experience, the curated game, the game that makes our streets feel alive, but at the end of the day we have to be able to feed our families.

It’s hard to log on weekly and see posts of amazing companies closing, pieces of our communities shutting down. Yes, this is something that happens naturally, but it’s easy to see that main streets all over are emptier than they’ve ever been. We all need to rally together to save our main streets, keep our communities feeling alive! I’m not going to lie and say that Mini Mint and Mint Muse are not struggling. The last year has been difficult to see the empty streets and growth we thought we’d made shrink back down again. If you want to continue to see us in your community, don’t forget about your favorite small businesses! Spread the word, recommend, shop, whatever you can do, we all need the support of the communities that we love so much!
