i really wanted to put somebody else at the center of my life

but

they weren’t actually a good fit for me

and

i was dreaming too small, was too content to let old desires lie dormant in my comfort zone

i wasted time trying to convince people to show up for me…

…before i was showing up for myself

i was waiting for other people to romance me before i was romancing myself

and because of that i was letting people in that i shouldn’t have

giving too much while receiving too little

and i thought i was happy to do it

once i filled up my own cup, once i had a place to pour all my lover girl (gender neutral) energy, i realized not only did i have so much more to give

but there was so much more i wanted

after that, nobody else gets in unless they can meet the standards i’m meeting for myself
