Flame phase coast garter snake!! I could not believe how red the belly on this individual was. I've seen other flame phase coast garter snakes with decent red splotching, but this one had an almost solid red underside. Have any of you guys seen a coast garter snake like this before?

A western fence lizard dump. These lizards have gotta be the most taken for granted h**p in all of California. Their ventral coloration is legendary. I love the variation in blue hues.

Pacific ringnecks are the best. They remind me of a snake that would be found in the tropics, we are lucky to have them in California. I love observing the variation in ventral patterning and coloration within this species. This individual was a pretty light orange with minimal black spotting.

Two Pacific gopher snakes in Santa Clara County. I thought the first one was very pretty. Clean colors. The second one was maybe the most massive gopher snake I've ever seen. Definitely up there with the biggest if not the largest I've ever seen.

Two of many Northern Pacific Rattlesnakes observed on this trip. Lots of babies out, and a handful of adults as well.

A decent Pacific Gopher Snake (Pituophis catenifer) in Santa Cruz. This was the individual that was making an attempt to gobble up a nest full of duck eggs. Better luck next time!

Beautiful Pacific ring-necked snake (Diadophis punctatus) with very vibrant ventral coloration. I love the black spotting on ringnecks. I think California is so lucky to have these snakes.
