Lately, I’ve felt pulled to share a little more of the perspective behind it all too.

I recently started using Substack in a more personal way. Writing about life, culture, atmosphere, connection, travel, and the moments and people that stay with us long after they happen.

Still very much me. Just a little beyond the events themselves.

Jonathan Groff has the kind of talent that deserves more than just a ballroom…it deserves a feeling.

For this year’s UC Santa Barbara’s Arts & Lectures Gala, I wanted to create a space that still felt intimate and emotionally connected while carrying the grandeur and theatricality worthy of a performer who can command a stage with a single note.

Layers of candlelight, crystal chandeliers, deep jewel tones, soft draping, and a room designed to feel immersive rather than oversized. Elegant enough for a gala. Personal enough for a story.

And somewhere in the middle of all the production, planning, and last-minute details…this sweet moment with Jonathan Groff happened. Honestly, one of the highlights of the first six months of 2026.

Designing experiences is always about more than aesthetics to me. It’s about creating an atmosphere where people feel something.

Wrapping up the weekend still thinking about Maddie and Logan’s wedding. Such a beautiful few days surrounded by family, friends, so much love, and the kind of energy that reminds you why celebrations like this matter so much.

So grateful to this incredible team of vendor partners who helped bring every detail to life and made the entire weekend unfold so seamlessly and magically. 📸
