Trans History Day is more than remembrance — it is resistance against erasure. 🏳️‍⚧️

Observed each year on May 6, this day commemorates the 1933 N**i raid on the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft in Berlin, one of the first known clinics to provide gender-affirming care and research for trans people. Thousands of books, studies, and records were destroyed in an attempt to erase trans lives and identities from history.

But trans history could not be erased.

Today, we honor the generations of trans, nonbinary, and gender-diverse people whose courage, brilliance, artistry, leadership, and activism continue to shape our world. From trailblazers like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera to today’s organizers, artists, healers, and community leaders — trans people have always existed, always resisted, and always created pathways forward.

At a time when anti-trans rhetoric and legislation attempt to silence and divide, preserving and uplifting trans history matters more than ever. Because history is power. Visibility is power. Community is power.

We remember.
We celebrate.
We keep building.

Trans people have always been here.
And they always will be.

It starts with one. It builds together. It moves a community.

We’ve launched the Ripple Effect Campaign—a collective effort to bring together 100 people to give $1,000 in support of Pacific Pride Foundation’s Pride Festival.

This festival is a free Pride celebration on the Central Coast, helping remove barriers so thousands of people can come together, be seen, and feel connected.

Each gift is a ripple—but together, they create a wave that powers community, visibility, and belonging.

Join us as a Pride Festival Champion.
