As all of us older adults are aware, we are in open enrollment season. It is time to look at your Medicare plan and your prescription drug plan and plot a course for 2026.

I want to be sure you are all aware of the opportunity to get a second opinion on your choice. The Central Coast Commission for Senior Citizens offers some amazing services. The one I will point to today is HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program). HICAP volunteers stand ready to answer any and all questions to Medicare beneficiaries about your coverage.

As an example, I normally just go online and figure out my next best choice for a prescription drug plan and live with it for the year. This year I reached out to my friend who volunteers for HICAP and she saved me $150/month.
