The Printed Garden
Good evening, bookish friends! It's Friday night, July 17! I'm back from vacation, and have spent the last few days refilling the shelves with great books!
Here are a few of them . . .
As usual, for the first 30 minutes, tomorrow morning when we open, these will be available on a first come, first served basis - but if you see something that you'd like me to put aside for you, just let me know in the comments. At 10:30 a.m., I'll read through the comments and will pull your requests and confirm that I have them on hold for you.
We had a terrific book club meeting in the store tonight after close, and spent some time unpacking the 20th Century Japanese classic novel The Woman in the Dunes by Abe Kobo. If you read it, and forgot that tonight was the night, let me know the next time you're in the store. I always say that the best bookshops are 10% barbershop - we'll talk about it.
I hope you've been able to stay out of the heat! Drink a lot of water, and drop by the shop - David and I will have the air conditioning running! Have a terrific night!

A closer look at the set of Oxford World Classics, if anyone is interested in the titles.
Hey, guys! It's Friday night, June 12th, and I have rounded up a new collection of exciting new secondhand arrivals that will be available when The Printed Garden opens tomorrow morning!
Until we started to do these features, I was a little disappointed at just how many really cool secondhand books would come into the store, only to immediately disappear onto the shelves, and I love showcasing them this way!
They'll be available on a first come, first served basis for the first 30 minutes, but comment below if there's anything you'd like me to put aside for you. At 10:30 a.m. I'll run through the comments, and will pull and hold anything that's been requested.
Thank you, so much, for all of your positive feedback and support! Every kind word I've gotten has made shooting these videos easier and, hopefully, the end result will be videos that are easier to watch, too! 😂

Thank you, so much, for your ongoing support, and for the kind responses to these videos. Every one of them has made them easier to film which, in theory, should also make them easier to watch! 😂

When I finished Cormac McCarthy's The Road (2006), I really felt as if McCarthy had given the final word in postapocalyptic fiction. Six years later, Peter Heller's astonishingly good debut novel The Dog Stars swept that assumption away effortlessly! I can't even begin to explain how excited I am to see Ridley Scott's treatment of this brilliant novel!
