Is minimalism in for 2022? Going beyond the Marie Kondo phase, still sparking Joy, but with a more sustainable and healthy approach. It's about removing clutter and using your time and energy for the things that remain. Being mindful of what people, items and experiences you choose to allow in your life.
Why am I sharing the idea of minimalism and how does it apply to Staging?
One of the steps I take in the staging process is leaving the homeowner with a list of "homework" for them to accomplish before for my next staging visit. More often than not it includes a note about organizing, pre packing and removing "clutter" if you will. We are intentionally keeping items for use and display, leaving lots of extra space and giving the buyer the room to imagine how they would use and fill that space.
Buyers need to feel the home as spacious, clean and clutter free.

Next up, clean Clean, CLEAN!

This room had been used as an office, TV watching and reading room just off the Master. It sported the same paint, carpet and color scheme. Though it has several windows with beautiful views, it felt dark because of the heavy window treatments and blinds. The homeowner removed all of the window treatments, fresh coat of paint and new carpet. I then took out all of the furniture with the exception of the comfortable leather recliner. A large repurposed vintage desk with a view of the lake is all this room needs for a very comfortable yet useful home office.

Finally got to the finish line of the office refresh we did for ! We worked with the existing office wall color, moved the big desk to the center of the room and anchored with a large beautiful rug. Inspiration came from the existing vintage cabinet that was lost under random stacks of paper. I painted a large dresser Caviar black by giving Allison a place to put away the extra papers and files that she needs. The room is now free of clutter, warm and welcoming for her clients as well as a comfortable place to work.

This property won't last long. Privacy, beautiful view of HooDoo Mountain, horse pastures, an established fenced organic garden. The house has tons of space.
