Hailing originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Monte Montgomery never picked up a guitar until he moved to the Texas Hill Country in 1979 at the age of 12. His mother, Maggie, Taught him his first chord on the guitar at the age of 13.

Named one of the "Top 50 All-Time Greatest Guitar Players" by Guitar Player Magazine, and "Best Acoustic Guitar Player" at Austin Chronicle's Austin Music Awards 7 years in a row just to name a few of his accolades.
