Thanks to your quick action, we were able to stop SB 614 (S. Rubio) from going forward this year!

Your voices joined the coalition of academic experts and civil rights advocates standing up for kids to prevent California from eliminating the only assurance that new teachers know how to teach reading to kids.

Even though the legislature is now on break, this critical policy battle ensuring all teachers know how, and all kids receive, research-based reading instruction is far from over. We anticipate the issue will come back in January or the “anti-research” coalition might find a way to sneak it in somewhere else.

Regardless, EdVoice will continue to monitor things here in Sacramento and will let you know if there are any changes or opportunities to take action.
