Yep, that is really a Moon Tree – given the name because the seed that sprouted into this tall redwood traveled to the moon and back!
In 1971 Apollo 14 astronauts took about 2000 tree seeds to the moon to study the effects of prolonged weightlessness on seed germination and seedling growth. The tree seeds were planted across the country – this one is in Tilden Park, Berkeley, CA.
Fortunately, you don’t have to find a Moon Tree to have Moon Fruit – but wouldn’t it be fun to harvest…
