Citrus is everywhere in summer, from drinks and desserts to skincare products. But for people with eczema, citrus extract in topical products is be aware of. 🍋
Citrus extract is on NEA's Ecz-clusion List because it contains natural compounds that are known allergens and irritants for sensitive skin. It also contains phototoxic compounds that can cause sunburn-like reactions when exposed to UV light, making summer an important time to check product labels.
Products with the Seal of Acceptance™ are free of citrus extract and every other ingredient on the Ecz-clusion List. Browse accepted options at https://bit.ly/4aXpHvK 💙
The eczema community is full of people who just get it. NEA Ambassador Brian Glaze shares what it meant to find that connection and why being part of this community has changed how he supports his family with eczema.
Because no one should have to figure this out alone. 💙

It's a common assumption: drink more water, improve your skin. But for people with eczema, it's not that simple. If you're already meeting your daily water intake, drinking beyond that has very little impact on skin hydration.
What actually works? Moisturizer applied right after your shower. Dr. Paul Yamauchi and nurse practitioner Victoria Garcia-Albea break down what the research shows at https://bit.ly/4vnJyeR. 💧💙

Living with a chronic condition means living in the spaces between flares too, and that experience has its own weight. The hypervigilance that doesn't switch off. The anticipation of symptoms returning. The relief and guilt of a good skin day, knowing it's temporary and not knowing how to communicate that to the people around you.
The anxiety of not flaring is a real part of the eczema experience. It just doesn't get much attention.
Does this resonate with you? We'd love to hear from this community. 💙
