Guide dog puppies at Long Beach Airport ✈️

Thank you for the opportunity to practice going through an airport for our guide dog puppies in training! These outings are really important in helping our pups get used to the hustle and bustle of an airport as they prepare for their futures as guide dogs for travelers who are blind or visually impaired.

This video starts with a clip of a person watching a group of guide dog puppies, puppy raisers, and guide dog teams walking by. Text on screen says “POV: there are 30+ guide dog puppies at the airport.” The large group walks through the airport, goes through TSA, settles at a gate, travels through baggage claim, and walks in front of the colorful FlyLGB sign.

As temperatures rise and we spend more time outdoors near beaches, pools, and sprinklers, here are some things to keep in mind to keep your dog happy and safe:

1. Introduce dogs to pools gradually. Never leave dogs unsupervised around water.
2. Drinking too much seawater can cause vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, and dangerous electrolyte imbalances. Always bring fresh drinking water.
3. Dogs can get water contamination if they drink too much water too fast. This can happen during games of fetch, biting sprinklers, or continuous swimming.
4. Keep dogs away from stagnant water, especially ones with algae bloom. Swimming, drinking, or even licking algae from fur can produce toxins that affect the liver and nervous system, and these toxins can become life-threatening very quickly.
