Our story begins with a truth: food security is essential for all people. But for our tribal founders, traditional food systems were nearly destroyed—disrupting foodways and challenging cultural traditions and self-sufficiency.

Rebuilding takes time, and today Pukúu stands with our community, offering nutrition assistance and hope for a future rooted in sovereignty.

Yesterday, like today, First Peoples want a home.

Our organization was founded by a First Peoples of Los Angeles- -whose lands were taken by 1900. Their community created Pukúu as a response to unmet needs...and stable housing is one of those needs.

Today, Pukúu works to prevent evictions and keep Native families housed. Housing is more than shelter- it’s dignity, security, and the foundation for thriving communities.
