A local Girl Scout troop sought donations from local businesses in order to throw a carnival for foster families in Pomona. Despite several rejections, the Juniors and Cadets didn’t give up before finally meeting Katie Mettert, the store manager at Five Below in San Dimas, who stepped forward with a donation to help make the event happen.

Girl Scout Marley Fejeran said Mettert’s generosity taught her about the power of kindness, especially from strangers.

“Without her, the event would [have been] much less than it was.”

Drone racing has evolved from a niche hobby to an international sporting event.

Hailing from San Dimas, local teen Levi Johnson is an internationally recognized drone pilot and one of the youngest award-winning pilots in multiple drone racing competitions. Not only has Johnson excelled in flying, but he has also benefited from the sense of camaraderie among the drone community.

As some of you may already know, Eric Nakano, owner/co-founder of the newspaper, has recently filed paperwork to run for San Dimas City Council. After discussing with other experts in the industry, we decided it was best to delay printing our next edition, scheduled for April 2022, in order to maintain the newspaper’s ethical integrity and reputation. Because we pride ourselves on limiting bias, we felt it necessary to take this step to ensure the community continues to trust our objectivity in reporting on city matters.

Maintaining the community’s trust is of the utmost importance in journalism. Because we want our readers to have confidence in the fair and balanced reporting by the San Dimas Community Post, we will pause printing until after the June election.

In the interim, we still plan to publish select, non-political stories online - so please stay tuned and follow us if you don’t already.

Are you ready for the new organic waste disposal program beginning in January 2022?

In the new year, residents and businesses will be required to place food waste into the green waste bin along with yard trimmings. Waste Management will turn this organic material into compost and mulch. With this change comes a rate increase, which the San Dimas City Council unanimously approved on Dec. 14.
