The Neuronal Gene Arc Encodes a Repurposed Retrotransposon Gag Protein that Mediates Intercellular RNA Transfer The neuronal protein Arc is evolutionarily related to retrotransposon Gag proteins and forms virus-like capsid structures that can transfer mRNA between cells in the nervous system.
The Shepherd Lab received an amazing score on a recent NIH R01 grant submission that ensures funding for the next 5 years! This all due to the hard work of the lab and is much deserved.
