Daily Bird Tip:

Columbiform Enrichment: Just like their wild counterparts that frequent backyard bird baths, pet pigeons and doves appreciate regular bathing opportunities to help with feather maintenance. Most Columbiforms should be offered a bath 1-2 times per week. This can be accomplished by offering a shallow container of lukewarm water or by misting the birds. For more information, download AAV’s pigeon care handout.

Daily Enrichment Tip:

Columbiform Enrichment: Although most of the diet for pigeons and doves should be composed of a seed and grain mix, these birds can be offered a variety of fruits and vegetables, just like our pet parrots. Fresh foods provide an additional source of nutrition, as well as enrichment through a variety of textures, colors, and tastes. For more information, download AAV’s pigeon care handout.
