I was honored last evening to introduce Shelby Van Pelt, bestselling author of “Remarkably Bright Creatures,” at a free public event sponsored by the Salem Library Foundation in partnership with the Salem Public Library.

This book was chosen for this year’s “Salem Reads” program, which brings together the community through shared experience. This year’s choice was a real success, bringing together nearly 900 people for Ms. Van Pelt’s talk with Carlee Wright from Press Play Salem.

Anoche tuve el honor de presentar a Shelby Van Pelt, autora del éxito de ventas "Remarkably Bright Creatures", en un evento público gratuito patrocinado por la Fundación de la Biblioteca de Salem en colaboración con la Biblioteca Pública de Salem.

Este libro fue elegido para el programa «Salem Reads» de este año, que reúne a la comunidad mediante una experiencia compartida. La elección de este año fue todo un éxito, ya que reunió a casi 900 personas para la conversación de la Sra. Van Pelt con Carlee Wright, de Press Play Salem.

The Oregon Senate has passed a bipartisan bill to keep presidential electors accountable to Oregon voters.

Members of the Electoral College from each state cast the 538 votes that ultimately elect the U.S. president, but no current federal law or constitutional provision requires electors to vote for the same candidate who won the popular vote in their state.

As chief co-sponsors of Senate Bill 1509, Senate Democratic Leader Kayse Jama and Senate Republican Leader Bruce Starr teamed up to close that vulnerability in Oregon.
