🎶 Teacher Spotlight ~

We’re honored to feature Vilmedis Cobas, guiding the Afro-Cuban dance portion this Sunday at the Third Sunday Rhythm & Roots Afro-Cuban Conservatory, in collaboration with Vladimir Espinosa.

Vilmedis Cobas: Studied at the National School of Modern and Folkloric Dance in Havana, Cuba, and holds a degree in Dance from the University of the Arts in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He has worked with important dance companies such as Danza Teatro del Caribe, Danza Abierta, Grupo Retazos, Joven Guardia Prodanz, Ballet Ecuatoriano de Cámara, Compañía Nacional de Danza del Ecuador, and Roanoke Ballet Theatre. He has worked as a teacher and choreographer, presenting his works internationally in countries such as Spain, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Portugal, China, Mexico, and Chile, among others. Alongside his dance career, he has also pursued music as a percussionist in various groups, including Asereco, Morezu, Suin Original Monk, and Grupo Bata Tum Tum, which he founded and directed, specializing in Bata drums.

Join us for a full afternoon of rhythm and movement, centering Arará and Yoruba, guided by live drumming.
