Running on Rainbows π
I created this spacey pin during production of the Bonus Lesson of my Fusing Fundamentals series to show how I was personally inspired by a unique trait of dichroic glass. I noticed that the rainbow coating on some dichroic noodles ends in striated bands of color, which instantly made me picture something fiery igniting its way through the darkness of space.
I really enjoy how the details of dichroic glass are so out-of-this-world that their interpretation can vary wildly from artist to artistβIβm sure if Iβd given these noodle ends to 100 different glassworkers, Iβd have gotten back 100 completely unique projects!
Iβm also interested in how this glass appears smooth and shiny before itβs fired, but can take on a rougher, more glittery appearance after firing, depending on the firing setup and schedule (see photo 4 for this glass prior to firing).

Stellar Dangles ππββ
ββ
I made these earrings while filming the Bonus Lesson of my Fusing Fundamentals course as an additional idea for utilizing dichroic accessory glasses (stringers, in this case).ββ
ββ
I debated making their backgrounds black so the dichro would really pop, but I also wanted them to feel ephemeral and fleeting, like a real shooting star might be, so I opted for clear. β
β
Trying them on them is validating bc I think they gently complement the wearer, whereas the black version would have magnetized all the attention. The last photo is the proof!β

β
I created this ornament during production of the Bonus Lesson of my Fusing Fundamentals series as an example of incorporating dichroic accessory glass into fusing projects.β
β
This color-shifting glass is SO vibrant and eye-catching that a little bit goes a long way; I really enjoy how just a touch of it can add an aspect of magic or whimsy to an otherwise ordinary scene.β
β
I fused this piece several times to try to build up a level of depth. The last photo shows the first layer of snowy frit that I contour fused along with the rest of the scene; all the others were taken after additional frit layers had been contour/tack fused on top. I think the added layers make the snow look wonderfully fluffy and add playful movement that really brings to life the shaken snow globe effect!β
