Urban Roots

Yesterday, Urban Roots stood alongside Governor Tim Walz, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, and other grantees to celebrate the inauguration of Minnesota's Office of Public Service.

This office will strengthen opportunities for Minnesotans to engage in public service and includes a Service to Success grant for our youth internship programs.

We are thrilled to be among the first grantees to receive funding from the new state office, which will help us continue our work to provide paid internships to youth that address community needs around fresh food access, the environment, and well-being. 🥕🌳💚

New MN Office of Public Service aims to strengthen career pathways within service organizations The office will exist within the state’s Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) and will offer new grant opportunities for service organizations across the state.

Next week is our first official week of summer programming with 78 youth interns working with us. Here's a photo of our group at orientation, which took place earlier this week. We’re so excited for a summer of growing food, native plants, skills, leadership, community, and more! 🥕🌱
