KCI recently dry cleaned a triptych of sand paintings by Navajo artist, David Chethlahe Paladin. In preparation, we used a Dino-Lite USB microscope to examine the delicate surfaces and we captured some interesting photomicrographs.

The things we do for art! This is one of a pair of 1920s Urns designed by E.E. Soderhotz which were modeled after examples at Boboli Gardens in Florence, Italy. KCI Conservator, Nicole Flam had to get inside this one in to be able to consolidate and make some repairs. We were happy to give this tribute to Suni Lee the attention it deserves. Our community is extremely proud of our local heroine who won 3 Olympic medals in Women’s Gymnastics in Paris this year. She also won 3 medals at the Tokyo Olympics, including the All Around gold medal.
