Today we celebrate the heart and heritage of South Dakota agriculture! The hardworking families, ranchers, and producers who keep our traditions alive and our communities strong.

🚜 Agriculture is South Dakota’s leading industry, with over 95% of its roughly 28,000 farms being family-owned, contributing over $21 billion annually to the economy.

🐄 South Dakota has around 4 million cows, meaning cattle outnumber people by about five to one.

🌽 South Dakota is in the top ten for producing corn, soybeans, wheat, and sunflowers!

🌾 Nearly 90% of South Dakota’s land is dedicated to farming and ranching.

🐝 Our state ranks 3rd in the nation for honey!

From rodeo arenas to open pastures, agriculture is more than an industry it’s a way of life. Today we honor those who feed, fuel, and clothe the world. 💚
