🐾🍂 Undercover Angels Animal Rescue Presents:
STRAW & COMMUNITY CAT SHELTER GIVEAWAY! 🍂🐾

Cold weather is coming, and we want to make sure every animal stays warm and safe! ❄️ Thanks to your incredible support and generous donations, Undercover Angels Animal Rescue will be giving away free community cat shelters and straw to help keep our outdoor kitties (and pups!) cozy this winter.

📅 Saturday, November 1st
🕙 10:00 AM – Noon (or while supplies last!)
📍 Saginaw County Animal Control, 5615 Bay Rd., Saginaw

Let’s make sure no animal is left out in the cold this season. Stop by, grab supplies, and help us care for the community cats and dogs who need it most! 💛

Here’s why straw is much better than blankets, towels, or hay for outdoor animal shelters in winter:

Straw repels moisture.
It’s hollow and dry, so it doesn’t absorb water or freeze. Blankets, towels, and hay soak up moisture from the air (or from a wet cat), which can actually make animals colder and lead to hypothermia.

It provides excellent insulation.
The hollow stalks of straw trap body heat and create a warm, cozy nest. When an animal curls up inside, straw reflects their body warmth back to them.

It stays clean and dry longer.
Because it doesn’t hold moisture, straw doesn’t mold or smell as quickly as hay or fabric, keeping the shelter more sanitary and comfortable.

It’s easy to replace.
You can simply toss out old straw and add fresh, dry straw throughout the winter to maintain warmth and cleanliness.

👉 Hay ≠ Straw: Hay is meant for animal feed — it’s softer, greener, and full of moisture — which makes it a poor insulator. Always choose straw (the dry, yellow stalks) for outdoor bedding.

Bottom line: Straw keeps outdoor kennels warm, dry, and safe through the harshest winter nights — it’s their best defense against the cold! 🐾
