We woke up this morning heartbroken.

Despite every effort to save him, Butters was euthanized before he ever got the chance he deserved. We couldn’t save him, but we promised his life would not be forgotten.

Today, we honored Butters by saving another life.

Meet Jasper. 🩵

Jasper is only 10–12 months old and was scheduled to be euthanized today at SEAACA—not because he was sick, but because of indirect exposure to parvo. He never had contact with the positive dog. He wasn’t even housed in the same row of kennels. His hold expired today, and he was given virtually no opportunity to find a home before being placed on the euthanasia list.

We refused to let history repeat itself.

The foster who had stepped up for Butters opened her heart to Jasper instead. Alongside the incredible networkers and advocates who fought beside us yesterday, we worked late into the night and early this morning until Jasper was safely out of the shelter.

Today, Jasper is safe because people chose to act.

A huge thank you to for tirelessly networking the dogs at SEAACA, for helping coordinate this lifesaving rescue, .sam for stepping up to foster and save a life, and our entire Pits and Pals K9 Rescue team for making this happen.

Butters, this one is for you. We wish we could have saved you too.

Here’s to forever, Jasper. From this day forward, you only know love, safety, and the life you’ve always deserved. ❤️

⚠️ Warning: This video contains strong language and may not be suitable for children or sensitive viewers.

Yesterday, we fought to save Butters, a sweet little Pit Bull/Boxer mix from SEAACA. Despite every effort, every phone call, and having a committed adopter ready to pick him up, Butters was killed.

We were lied to. We were hung up on. Every attempt to save his life was blocked.

We couldn’t save Butters, and that heartbreak will stay with us.

Today, we’re honoring his memory the only way we know how—by fighting just as hard to save another dog. We refuse to stop trying, because every life matters, and every dog deserves the chance Butters never got.

Please follow along, share, speak up, and help us save as many lives as we can. For Butters. ❤️🐾

Some news is never easy to share.

We received confirmation that our sweet Luna has large cell lymphoma. The cancer has spread to nearly every lymph node, and our hearts are shattered. This is the same cruel disease that took our beloved Blue in September 2025.

Two years ago, we pulled Luna from Stanislaus Animal Shelter on what was supposed to be her final day. We promised her she would never have to face the world alone again. We hoped that one day she would find a forever family of her own.

Instead, she found us.

While no adoption application ever turned into “the one,” Luna has been loved every single day by her incredible foster, Maddy, and by everyone at Pits and Pals. She has always been family, whether the paperwork ever said so or not.

This is one of the hardest realities of rescue. We fight so hard to save lives, believing every dog deserves a forever home. Sometimes forever looks different than we imagined. Sometimes forever is simply making sure they know nothing but love for the rest of their days.

That’s exactly what we’re going to do for Luna.

She will spend whatever time she has left surrounded by love, comfort, treats, adventures, soft beds, and all the things that make her happiest. Maddy is putting together a Luna Bucket List, and we’re going to help her check off every item we can.

If you’d like to be part of Luna’s journey, you can support her bucket list or help with her end-of-life care through our website: www.pitsandpalsk9rescue.com/donate.

Thank you for loving Luna with us. Please keep her, Maddy, and our rescue family in your thoughts as we navigate another heartbreaking goodbye that came far too soon.

💜 We love you, Luna. We’re going to make every single day count.
