Smart Tortoise Keeper

This time of year a lot is going on at our place. I addition to keeping up with the Burmese Star, Radiated, and Galapagos enclosures - irrigating, mowing, etc, This is also a busy time for hatching tortoises.

I'm near the end of the radiated hatching with just a few more clutches in the incubator. I do now have several babies that have more than doubled their hatch weight and are in the 60g - 70g range. Raised in Smart Enclosures, they are growing quickly and perfectly smooth.

The Burmese Stars are finished hatching. The oldest from this year are about 5-6 mos old now and growing perfectly.

We are just over 1/2 way through hatching season with our Galapagos at our main facility, but here at my place, I just have some I incubated for a more male outcome that are now hatching. A more female group have already hatched.

One of our grandsons did a “teach the class day” today. His subject was turtles and tortoises. We took some of our spotted turtles and Burmese Stars - mom, her baby and a juvenile.
