Keeper Charters

The Friends of Wood Island Lighthouse is once again offering tours of the island and the lighthouse. Trained volunteers transport you to the island where you are met by a guide who explains the history of the lighthouse and the island.

The tours take place in July and Auhust and the sign up begins June 1st! That's tomorrow. That's midnight tonight.

Read the details carefully. They offer multiple time slots daily and the cost is $40 for adults and $25 for 12 years old and under.

I have never been on Wood Island, though I cruise by it daily during my charter season. I am hoping to land a spot this summer!

I had a nice time today hosting Abby and her crew from UMAINE STRIPED BASS RESEARCH on Keeper Charters.

We pounded it out and were able to land one 38" striped bass. Her team flushed the stomach of our catch and we quickly released her unharmed. I learned much today about the striped bass life cycle and current research being conducted.
