Route 1 in S**o has reopened, however, due to another crash on Route 1 across the town line, the road is now fully closed in Scarborough. Please continue to avoid the area this evening.

Due to a motor vehicle crash on U.S. Route 1 in the area near the Scarborough town line, traffic will be down to one lane in each direction for several hours.

Please avoid the area as traffic will be delayed throughout the evening commute. We will update this posting when the road has reopened.

S**o PD is proudly accredited through the Maine Law Enforcement Accreditation Program, highlighting their tangible efforts to provide the highest level of service to our city. This accreditation requires agencies to meet rigorous law enforcement standards in policies, training, conduct, communications, records management, and more.

The true impact that S**o’s officers make on the community is immeasurable. In 2025 alone, officers responded to more than 23,000 calls for service, about 63 per day. Our officers are often the first to provide support when it is needed most.

Beyond emergency response, S**o PD builds lasting relationships with residents through programs like National Night Out and Socks for Seniors. Save the date for this summer’s National Night out, set for Aug. 4 at Thornton Academy!
