Just an example of why routine maintenance and doing the job correctly is very important. These brake pads are out of the same vehicle. Just replaced about 15000miles ago at another shop. The customer was told he only needed brake pads so he authorized the work. Fast forward 5 months and this is what was found to cause his noisey brakes/weak brake pedal complaint.
When the pads were changed there was no cleaning or servicing done to the caliper brackets, caliper slides or the shims (yes those were reused as well). Just a good old fashioned pad slap was done. The inner pad (the worn out one) was seized into the bracket, causing it to wear out prematurely.
