“Be kind. Be honest. Be trustworthy," shares Sherley. "Always do your best. Compliment someone every day — even a stranger." These philosophies have carried her through life, starting at a young age. "When I was around 8 years old, my father gave me what he called a 'list of good deeds,' a gentle reminder for how to live life with integrity, kindness and heart."

Sherley shares how these words have stayed with her through every stage of life. What may have seemed like simple advice as a little girl became the foundation of the person she grew into.

"Kindness and gratitude can open doors, honesty builds trust and even a small compliment can brighten someone’s entire day."

This month at Atria Rye Brook, we celebrated Red, White & Blue Week, and what an incredible week it was! We kicked things off by honoring America's 250th birthday with festive activities, patriotic spirit, and plenty of fun.

From themed dress-up days to our delicious Strawberry Social, our residents and staff embraced the celebration by wearing their favorite red, white, and blue attire and creating wonderful memories together.

Congratulations to Sedona, one of this year’s recipients of the Ronnie Boatman Scholarship!

Sedona is the daughter of Hugh, the Maintenance Director at Atria Aquidneck Place, and she has plans to attend the University of Rhode Island to study Political Science.

The Boatman Scholarship honors the legacy of beloved Atria leader Ronnie Boatman and has awarded nearly $800,000 to help the children of Atria employees pursue higher education.

Our chefs hosted multisensory cooking demonstrations in our memory care neighborhoods. Residents followed along as fresh tomato basil bruschetta was prepared. It was a savory treat for the senses!

Great food, BBQ favorites, live music by Mike Rinaldi, and even better company made for a perfect celebration filled with friends, laughter, and summer joy. ❤️🎶🍔

We served it up Cubano-style at our Taste of Little Havana, Miami events.

Residents enjoyed fried plátanos, pressed Cuban sandwiches, potato chips and crisp cucumber salad. And don’t forget about dessert – flan!

To top it off, communities screened the 2022 Father of the Bride starring Andy Garcia and Gloria Estefan.

We can't wait to see – and taste – the cuisine from our destination next month!

Life Guidance residents at Atria at Foster Square enjoyed a whale watching outing along the San Francisco Bay coastline, spotting migrating gray whales. They had a blast soaking up fresh ocean air, talking with friends and making the most of the opportunity to observe marine life in its natural habitat.

It looks like it was a whale of a time!

Known for his storytelling skills and beautiful Cajun accent, Worley loves welcoming new neighbors, helping others feel at home and building connections.

Worley has dedicated his life to service; after coaching youth basketball for decades, he was delighted to find a new purpose in sharing stories with new friends and encouraging them to try an exercise class or Book Club.
