Oregon Museum of Science and Industry recently integrated the Three Sisters Garden activity into their Soil Science class. Students began class with an introductory lesson on the scientific breakdown of soil, the role it plays in growing our food, and the importance of maintaining soil nutrient content. They then learned different planting techniques, and practiced how to arrange the seeds in a pot to help each other grow. Students drew a “map” based on their pot and plotted out where each vegetable seed would be planted. 🌱⁣
