Happy birthday, Mexico! Today you turn 200 years old, an amazing milestone. On September 16, 1821 you marked the anniversary of your founding patriot, Padre Miguel Hidalgo, who in 1810 led the march out from his parish in rebellion against the tyrannies of old world leaders. Nearly a decade later, you declared yourself fully independent from Spain, and when you did, you used the ancestral eagle of Tenochtitlan as your symbol of national pride. On the lobes of its cactus, you named your provinces as the states of a new federal Republic of Mexico. And today—just as two centuries ago—Tejas sits top and center among the people who are proud to be a part of that heritage. As Texans and Tejanos, we salute you!

The Giveaway hosted during To the Republic's book blog tour has ended, and two of the three award packages are now coursing their way to raffle winners.
