Dreaming of a remodel? Where do you start? Most people call a contractor. Contractors will respond one of three ways.
1. They might ask for a design
2. They might create a design for you
3. They might do the work with no official plan or design

With the first you have to go find someone. With the second, you typically have to commit before they show you a design. And well, the third comes with its own set of problems and issues.

Start with a designer! Come up with the concept before you hire the contractor.

The more involved I got into the remodel business, the more suprised I was about the tools contractors use to convey their ideas to their customers.
