Good morning, Northwest Georgia! ☀️🦌

What a beautiful way to start the day. The birds are singing, the deer are feeding, and yesterday we were blessed with a brand-new visitor—a young 8-point buck has started hanging around. This morning the whole group is out in the pasture, reminding us to slow down for just a moment and appreciate God’s creation.

Now it’s time to get to work.

Today we’ll be back at New Canaan Baptist Church finishing the cleanup from the large sweetgum tree we removed. After that, we’re hoping to move over to Lindale to take down a large oak tree, depending on how much this Georgia heat takes out of us. With temperatures climbing into the low 90s and heat index values around 100–102°, we’ll be staying hydrated and working safely throughout the day. There is also a slight chance of an afternoon thunderstorm, so we’ll be keeping an eye on the weather.

Good morning! Thursday has arrived, and it has already been a busy week.

We’re starting the day with an emergency call. A pine tree has broken over and is hanging in another pine tree, creating a dangerous situation with the potential to fall into the street. That’s our first priority this morning to make the area safe.

The crew is headed to McGrady Road to remove a dead ash tree and complete the cleanup, and that should wrap up today’s work.

If everything goes as planned, I’ll get back home this afternoon and finish getting the L&M Freaky Fast 75M ready to sling some dirt this Saturday with the Summer Nationals.

Today’s Forecast: Expect a hot and humid day with a high around 89°F. There’s the chance of a pop-up thunderstorm later this afternoon, so we’ll be keeping an eye on the sky while we’re working. (WeatherBug)

Three jobs down… now it’s time to switch gears.

Today was one of those days that keeps you moving from daylight until dark.

Job #1: We started on Horseleg Creek Road, where a tree had blown over and blocked the driveway. We got it cut up, piled neatly, and opened the driveway back up. Once we cut into the trunk, it was easy to see why it failed—the inside was almost completely rotted away.

Job #2: Next, we removed four large Bradford pear trees. Bradford pears are known for splitting as they get older, and these had become a hazard. We safely brought all four down, cleaned up every limb and log, hauled everything off, and left the property looking like we were never there.

Job #3: We finished the workday by starting on a massive oak tree that had fallen through a double-wide trailer. The amount of internal decay in that trunk was unbelievable. We spent the afternoon carefully removing limbs off the roof and dismantling the tree one section at a time. We didn’t get it finished today, but we made the property much safer and we’ll be back to finish the job.

Every one of these jobs had one thing in common—the real problem was hidden on the inside.

I’m thankful for a hardworking crew, another productive day, and customers who continue to trust L&M & THEM Tree Service LLC.

Now it’s time to head home, grab a bite to eat, and trade the chainsaw for a wrench. The workday may be over, but the day’s not done yet. We’ve got a race car to get ready. The Freaky Fast 75M doesn’t fix itself, and there’s another race waiting this weekend.

That’s just life around here—work all day, race all night, and thank the good Lord for giving us the opportunity to do both.
