Five years ago…

My son, age 2, couldn’t take a bite of a cracker. All foods had to be cut up into tiny bites to avoid choking. His medications, sensory challenges, oral motor dysfunction, and fine motor challenges made feeding progress very difficult.

We had one provider with minimal availability come to our home for a few feeding lessons before leaving the area for more opportunities. The lessons were great and very helpful.

Another provider thirty miles away was highly recommended, but had no openings and wasn’t adding any more clients to the waitlist. That provider was very kind and gave some helpful tips over the phone.

We ended up driving to St. Louis for an evaluation with their therapy team, but couldn’t afford the time off work and travel expense even if insurance covered it (which was always a fight despite his medical necessity).

By God’s grace our son continued to make progress and we learned all we could to help him.

I prayed for a place locally that my son could go for all the therapies he needed. What I didn’t know was that God would use me to make that place a reality.

Today we held our first therapy visit with our amazing occupational therapist. A patient was able to access care that didn’t exist in our area five years ago.

God is faithful. He made sure Jack had what he needed, and he’s using our experience to provide for other families. Sometimes our prayers aren’t answered exactly how we want them to be, but God’s plans are greater than we can ever dream.

True North Therapy thank you so much for joining us on this adventure!

Introducing Natalia!
Natalia has 4 years of experience working in pediatric Occupational Therapy. In addition to the school-based experience Natalia has embraced the challenges and opportunities working on a PRN basis at a hospital. The dynamic environment provides her with exposure to a diverse range of patients, allowing her to apply skills across various medical conditions and settings.

Natalia has experience working with children with special needs including developmental delays, ADHD, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, autism, sensory processing disorders, and more. She prefers using a holistic, child/led and play-based approach to her sessions. She truly believes that collaboration between the child, the therapist, and the child’s caregiver is key for success.
When Natalia is not working she enjoys playing sports with her family, reading, listening to podcasts, food and coffee, and most activities outdoors.
