Did you know… Texas law requires you to stop for a school bus under certain conditions?
In Texas, drivers must stop for flashing red lights on a school bus, regardless of which direction the vehicle is traveling, unless a physical barrier divides the road lanes. Knowing the flashing-light system that school bus drivers use to signal their intentions to motorists can save lives.
Yellow flashing lights mean the bus is getting ready to stop to load or unload students. Drivers should slow down and prepare to stop.
Red flashing lights with an extended stop sign mean the bus is stopped and students are getting on or off.
Drivers approaching the school bus from either direction must stop, even if the road is divided by a turning lane, unless a median or other physical barrier such as a wall or fence, separates the road lanes. Violators can receive up to a $1,250 fine, driver’s license suspension, and even jail time, depending on the number of convictions and the seriousness of the incident.
Following all laws and rules of the road is an easy way to keep your insurance costs down, as a violation will damage your insurance score for up to 7 years.

Did you know… the celebration and acknowledgement of Labor Day led to the development of workers’ compensation insurance?
Labor Day's origins are closely tied to workers' rights movements. As labor unions fought for safer working conditions and protection for injured workers, workers' comp became one of the first mandatory insurance programs in the United States, starting in the early 1900s.
Workers' Compensation covers several types of benefits when an employee has a work-related injury or illness, such as medical care, income, death, and burial costs.
Although Texas is one of the few states who do not require employers to carry workers’ compensation insurance, the benefits of carrying the coverage heavily outweigh the cost of coverage.

Did you know... your roof’s age effects your homeowners’ payout?
If your roof is older or showing wear, the policy may pay less if your policy coverage is “actual cash value”. Depending on the condition of your roof, the policy may not pay at all. When replacing or repairing your roof, consider choosing materials that are more resistant to wind, hail, and fire.
For your policy to cover the full cost of repairs, less your deductible, your policy must have “replacement cost” coverage.
Your policy also has a separate deductible for wind and hail, that can be more than your deductible for your other coverages. Most carriers have a 2% wind and hail deductible, compared to a 1% deductible for other coverages. This deductible may also be a dollar amount.
