Not sure how to help your child’s language development? Here are some tips you can use everyday!
🗣️ Get face to face - This helps your child focus on your facial expressions and how words are formed.
🗣️ Narrate their play - Describe their actions in the moment to connect words to experiences.
🗣️ Pause and wait - Give space after you speak. This shows you expect a response and encourages interaction.
🗣️ Follow their lead - Let your child guide the play and conversation. They’ll be more engaged and responsive.
🗣️ Add one word - Build their vocabulary naturally by making your sentence just one step ahead of theirs.
🗣️ Repeat - Kids need to hear words often to learn them. Don’t be afraid to sound like a broken record!

Due to excessive screen time & exposure to academic learning (alphabet, Number puzzles, rhymes), many children have a delay in learning functional words resulting in a difficulty to communicate with their parents or peers.
✨ How can you teach functional words?
👉 The most underrated way is to involve your child in functional everyday activities. Model & teach words during bathing, preparing a snack, at the grocery store, etc.

Communication isn’t just about talking. It’s about finding the ways each child best expresses themselves.
Here are just a few ways children communicate:
👉 Using spoken words
👉 Gestures, body language and hand leading
👉 Facial expressions
👉 Robust AAC devices
👉 Sign language
👉 Sounds, movements, or actions
