FIRE PROMPTS EVACUATIONS: We've been following a business fire in Beloit that's been prompting people to leave their homes this morning. A special thank you to the city's director of strategic communications, Sarah Lock, for giving us updates through a live phone interview, informing people to wear masks near the area due the heavy amount of smoke. Our anchor David Greenberg was able to grab a mask before giving live coverage of the damages later on FOX 39.

BREAKING: Rockford's fire arson investigator confirms with me a house has exploded overnight on 15th Avenue near the intersection with S. 4th street. Debris is everywhere. The front side of the house is on the road. A window frame on the power lines. Part of the roof has struck the shed next to the scene. A neighbor's house on the other side damaged in the aftermath--people inside forced out of that home. Nicor and Comed teams are also here--they confirm there is no gas leak threat to neighbors right now, and have notified surrounding residents in a 2 block radius that they have shut down their power as they clear everything out this morning. Investigators tell me the house was vacant at the time. No injuries. This scene is only 2 miles from a deadly house explosion that happened on Lapey Street back in 2020. We'll be live all morning on ABC 17 and FOX 39.
