SOS! Planned Foster had a last minute family emergency for these two adorable puppies (the other 4 have coverage), a male and female, and we need a place for them to land temporarily as we get them listed and help us get pictures and feedback on them. About 3 months old and vetted to age. (Theyβll all be available for adoption after we get them settled in their fosters and checked out)

Our ROC & Beyond community CAME THROUGH when we needed help to get this sweet but tragically emaciated, blind puppy back to healthy and taken care of - now, we are asking for help in a different way. π
π£ He needs a FOSTER! Chance is fine with cats AND most dogs, as long as they're not easily irritated by his constant playful antics.
But we will admit he IS a HANDFUL! π¬ Who's up for the challenge?
π« He no longer needs a special feeding schedule or any medical help, but he needs a foster who has time, patience and love to spare for this SO deserving boy. But he's got some things over on his "challenges" list:
π He's blind so he does need some consistency and extra patience especially as he adjusts to a new place
π He's not completely housetrained. He's likely never been taught. His foster right now has been working on it. His caveat is that he needs to go out very often and doesnβt crate as he doesnβt understand what a crate is and gets upset in one. He does ride around a lot but when heβs at home he needs to potty frequently. They've got all the patience in the world, but has to go down stairs to get him outside. He's a 1-2 year old - we are not saying it's impossible at all, but it will take some patience and hard work, and consistency. A belly band may help, too.
π He has been to so many events and people just love him. Unfortunately, at the last event, a person was playing with him and trying to activate him for just a few minutes and before we realized it, they had gotten him wrestling so he likes to try to nip and bark and since then, for the past few weeks, he now is likes to interact in that rougher mode when heβs excited. That will take some consistency and patience, as well.
π Like we said, he can be kind of a jerk with his insistence of playing, and correction (from the dog) doesn't seem to phase him much. He does play very nicely with other playful dogs
πͺ Who is up for this challenge? CHANCE NEEDS A CHANCE to be the best he can be! He's not too big even at healthy weight - about 40 lbs last we checked. He loves car rides SO much and adventures. He loves people and up until this last event, was great with everyone. He's still not aggressive or anything, but wants to constantly wrestle even with humans now, it seems. Definitely trainable.
β
We need him in a home with someone who ideally works from home, is retired, or something along those lines, and wants to help make a HUGE difference in his life and help him become more adoptable! MESSAGE US - or help this post be seen by the right person!

Meet Farley. π€
Two years ago, Farley came into Second Hand Dog Rescue as a one-year-old local surrender. He was adopted - then returned when his family lost their housing. Adopted again - then returned a second time when the older resident dog in the home repeatedly went after him. That second experience changed Farley. He was never quite the same around other dogs again.
And that's where things got hard.
We are an entirely foster-based rescue... no shelter, no facility. Nearly all of our fosters have dogs of their own. So for a dog like Farley, who needed to be the only dog in the home, that meant a lot of time crated and rotated around other dogs just to keep everyone safe. It's not what we want for any dog, ever. But it's the reality for about 20 of the dogs currently in our rescue who have been with us a year or more, through no fault of their own.
π
Farley waited over two years for what came next.
Enter Jess and her family. Through our brand-new Forever Foster Program, they welcomed Farley in as their one-and-only - and the transformation has been something else entirely. He has a dog bed in every room. The furniture is his. He has an open crate if he ever wants it, but he'll never be required to spend time in one again to keep him or other dogs safe. He goes on walks, rides in the car, hangs out with his people, has his spot on the couch, and just... lives.
Because Farley's family (he just LOVES the sound of that!), like many these days, are on a fixed income, Forever Foster was a perfect fit. SHDR continues to cover all of Farley's veterinary care, routine and emergency, as well as his crucial flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. When his family travels to visit relatives, the rescue covers boarding. If he needs a vet trip and they need help getting him there, we've got that too. π
Farley doesn't have to wonder anymore. He has his people. His people have him. And everyone rests easy.
This is what FOREVER FOSTER is for. πΎ
