Today, June 5, is Gun Violence Awareness Day, and the start of Wear Orange Weekend (June 5–7).

Gun violence is a public health crisis—one that deeply impacts the health, safety, and well-being of our communities. ICYMI, our Gun Violence Spotlight sheds light on how firearm-related injuries and deaths affect our region, who is most impacted, and why prevention requires a public health approach.

This weekend, we wear orange (the color hunters wear to protect themselves) to:
• Honor victims and survivors
• Raise awareness
• Call for solutions that address root causes
