From Wilder Tower to the Seattle Symphony. 🎶 Jeremy Rothman '99 has been named President and CEO of the Seattle Symphony, one of the nation's leading orchestras.

Inspired by his mother, an Eastman alumna, Jeremy came to the University of Rochester and created an independent Music Administration degree. With the support of mentors Dean Paul Burgett and Professor David Harman, he charted a path that blended music, leadership, and innovation. Along the way, he managed University orchestras, organized international tours, and gained hands-on experience through an internship with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra alongside trumpet lessons at the Eastman School of Music.

“URochester shaped my career path from the outset,” he says.

It also shaped his life. Jeremy met his wife while living on the Music Interest Floor in Wilder Tower during his first year. Today, they have two children, two dogs—and one of those dogs is named Wilder, a tribute to where their story began.

After more than 25 years in arts leadership—including 18 years shaping the artistic vision of The Philadelphia Orchestra as Chief Artistic Officer—Jeremy is preparing to lead the Seattle Symphony into its next chapter.
