Beginning in 1979, the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month of May celebrates the influence that Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans have had on this nation and its history. Inspired by the One Book One World project (http://www.onebookoneworld.org), the Rochester Math Club donated a selection of books to Rochester Public Schools that promotes awareness of Asian American and Pacific Islander culture and history. By donating to all three levels of schooling, students of different age groups will have access to these rich and impactful stories. We hope that these books will enhance the exposure to AAPI narratives and foster unity in our district, while also promoting the voices of AAPI students.
