When One Door Closes another Opens!

It is with a heavy heart that I am announcing that the Allergy Table Is no longer a full time endeavor for me and my personal journey.
After 7 wonderful years of servicing the allergy community and being able to offer a wide array of bakery menu items we are scaling back our business to only offer cakes and cupcakes. It is so heartbreaking for me to make this announcement because this business is very personal to me and my family. I saw a need in our community because of my own son with severe food allergies and created and built a very successful business in a niche market.

A while back, I was approached by a long time customer wanting to open a storefront bakery. Although the opportunity was exciting and promising something about the offer just didnt sit right with me in my gut and I turned the offer down. The timing for the endeveour with my family and where I was at in life just didnt make it a good fit. In addition to that gut feeling to say no, my daughter was diagnosed with neurological Lyme Disease and I needed to be fully present for her to help her heal and fight the battle to get better.

I knew if I wasn't the one to open a storefront location someone else would. There is such a need in our community to service people with food allergies and I would have happily supported any competitor by shopping in their bakery or referring people to their allergen free bakery. The need is real and I as a bakery owner was never able to service every single person wishing to place an order.

Unfortunately, there are some things that occured behind the scenes that make me so proud I trusted my gut and said no about the business proposal. I believe in Karma! I believe people will sink their own ships over time and that it's not my job to aid in failure of others.

I am not the type of business owner or person that will ever speak negatively about someone else. If you know me on a personal level you alreay know and understand that. BUT..when someone reaches out and preys on an opportunity that you alone created in an effort to recreate what it took years for me to build, it is wrong, heartbreaking and deceitful on so many levels. You may remember being friended on social media months ago and thinking it was me as you accepted the request. After all, the name is so similar it makes it hard to tell the difference. It was not me. It was an attempt to prey on my business model and my social media reach in an effort to expand their own personal brand.

I am a fighter and those who are close to me know very well that I didn't make this decision lightly. I fought the best I knew how to with the resources I had available.

With all of that being said, I refuse to close down my business completely and shut my doors. Baking for people with food allergies brings me incredible joy and fullfillment. Unfortunatly due to a significant drop in sales over the past 6 months I have reduced my business menu to offering only cakes and cupcakes in an effort to stay profitable.

As many of you know, before I started this bakery I was a classroom teacher. I have been blessed with an amazing opportunity and recently accepted a position as the Math Intervention Specialist at my daughter's elementary school. This is a new journey for me and my family and I am excited to be able to make an impact on kids lives again. Like I mentioned earlier, When one door closes another one opens!

I will still be accepting cake and cupcake orders for all my customers but order pick ups will be in the evenings or on weekend mornings only.

To all my loyal wonderful food allergy customers: I just want to say THANK YOU! Thank you for putting your trust in me to keep you and your family safe. Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to do what I love and provide you with comfort and reassurance when placing an order.

Trust is my most essential ingredient....not just in The Allergy Table but in life as well.
