This is Otto. Heās a Pain in the Ass
Donāt let this picture fool you. Otto is a pain in the ass.
We got him from the rescue on New Yearās Day. Immediately he fit right in with the family and two other doxie rescues in our home but⦠total doxie things with him.
Otto has a high pray drive so heās always sniffing around the yard for that rabbit that likes to come in the yard. He doesnāt want to come in. We have to go out and pick him up and bring him in.
Otto decided that one bay window is no place for our plants and he claimed it his spot to sunbath during the day and look out for those pesky stray cats and mean mailmen. I had to remove the plants and now have to build a plant stand for them.
Otto discovered that the rabbit would sometimes hide in our bush on the side of the house. He was convinced that the rabbit was still in there so he would climb inside the bush looking. One day he managed to get a sliver in his eye resulting in a trip to the vet. It wasnāt bad and heās fully recovered. I had to cut the bush down.
Otto one rainy night discovered earthworms. Otto likes to eat earthworms so we have to watch him when it rains.
Otto figured out how to get on top of the kitchen table. So now we have to push the table against the wall, push all the chairs in, and remove one that wonāt fit so he doesnāt get on top of the table.
Otto likes to sit on the love seat. We have dog stairs in front of both the couch and the love seat yet he seems like like to climb on the couch, walk across the end table where we sometimes have drinks sitting, just to get on love seat.
Though Otto is a pain in the ass and has caused us to change so much about us because he has to do things his way, we still love him to pieces. He loves every human he meets. He loves to cuddle on the love seat with me or whomever is home at the time. He sits calmly and waits for his dinner and snacks and doesnāt go nuts and bark like our other two. Otto truly is a unique dog and at this point I donāt know what weād do without him. Getting him has helped our 2nd rescue become a better dog. He has calmed down big time and gets along better with everyone all because of Otto.
Otto is a pain in the ass, but heās a gem and heās a great dog.

Advice needed for Separation Anxiety
Hey there! I recently adopted a year old sausage and he suffers from separation anxiety. He only feels 'safe' with me or my husband. I have 3 more family members at home who adore him but he doesn't really care much about them.
However, I'm trying to make him learn that he's in a safe environment. I need to teach him to be independent so he won't feel so scared by himself. It's bad enough that he cries when I go to the bathroom and he can't see me for a few seconds.
Sometimes we have to leave him alone, for when we have to get groceries or g workout. During that entire time, he keeps howling and barking (we have a camera installed in our room for him) and I'm worried he'll get himself sick if he kept this up.
I have tried to leave him with his absolute favourite treats. I have tried to take him for a long walk before we go out (so he gets tired) but nope, doesn't work. He sleeps in his crate at night but he also refuses to be in it while we're gone (He scraped his nose trying to get out of it while we were gone). We leave him in our room (his room too) and I usually put on soft music for him too.
I've been practicing leaving him alone 3-4 times a day while I just sit a room away from him but he has continued to scream. I'd really appreciate it if anyone has any recommendations that worked for you, or someone you know.

I texted Gunnarās vet today and asked her since his exam went so well yesterday with no signs of cancer , is she now thinking he doesnāt have a malignancy ? This was her reply:
āIf itās a malignancy, itās very well hidden at this point. Which it could be. But usually lymphoma is pretty straightforward to diagnose because of the enlarged lymph nodes. It could be a very low grade malignancy, and we just happened to find the calcium elevation on his bloodwork. If thatās the case, at some point, it will declare itself.ā
Sounds like his vet believes Gunnar still has a chance of having a malignancy. I guess only more tests and time will tell.
I worry most about us not finding the cause of his high calcium because high calcium causes horrible damage to a dogās liver and kidneys, and if left untreated, it will cause renal failure.
Please continue to pray that we will get some answers about what is causing his high calcium. The ānot knowing ā is the hardest part. š¢
