Red: Reflection

Inspired by a scene from the film Maléna by Giuseppe Tornatore, starring Monica Belluci, Red was placed among inanimate objects that resembled the human form (mannequins).

Red: Birth

This series, Red, is a project of mine that spanned out over 3 years. I depicted my subjects in red clothing or intentional red elements. These are some of the stories of womanhood that I have encountered in arts and lived out myself. Red is a versatile character that portrayed them. Here, in Birth, Red is victorious and free. The red veil was worn as a part of her garment: almost inseparable from her skin- her fate. This red veil stands for the fire and blood that Red was born in. Inspired by The Birth of Venus, Red was born vulnerable but also beautiful.
