July is Disability Pride Month, and we’re highlighting books from our Schneider Family Book Award collection.

The Schneider Family Book Award recognizes books that portray the disability experience for children and teens. This month, we invite you to explore stories that help readers feel included, welcomed, supported, safe, and valued.

Stop by the ERL to browse the display and check out a title. Representation matters, and these books are a great place to start.

This month’s display also connects to important supports and student work happening right here on campus. Disability Support Services helps ensure students have access to the accommodations and resources they need, while Future Leader Dogs at Oakland University partners with Leader Dogs for the Blind to help raise and socialize future guide dogs.

Stop by the ERL to explore books that open conversations about disability, inclusion, independence, and the many ways people move through and experience the world.

Not every summer read has to be something new. Sometimes it is finally picking up the book (or series!) you have always meant to start.

This is a reminder that classics become classics for a reason. They are the stories readers continue to talk about, share, and return to years later.

Whether you are revisiting an old favorite or opening the first page for the first time, summer is the perfect opportunity to get lost in a series.
