A customer came to us with a legacy part they needed to recreate. This part was a slurry pump. A slurry pump pumps not only water but solid material as well. Applications 3D was tasked with the reverse engineering of the slurry pump.

Fresnel lenses are used in lighthouses all over the world. Specifically, this particular type was borrowed from a nautical museum’s storage for reverse engineering. The lens is made up of multiple parts that all fit together. Undeniably, every detail needed to be captured exactly and with no room for error.

One of our prestigious customers, a mold-making company, had a small dilemma. Their customer, who is a plastic chair molder/manufacturer, wanted a special mold for a plastic chair that included the Texas map on it as well as a series of patterns and a rose shape. But, since the cost of such a mold is substantial, they wanted to build just one insert which could be changed in the mold, so that the mold could become multitasking and produce more than one kind of chair.

Applications 3D was approached with the challenge of organic 3D Scanning. The organic objects were bones that needed to be replicated for use in veterinary study programs. They required 3D scanning because they wanted to take the data and created 3D-printed replicas of the bones. This is because the 3D-printed parts will be cheaper than the bones themselves.
