Our 1st club event of this past Spring involved an Altoona Curve game that one of our Regular Members was recognized for his honorable service in Vietnam.
Terry Malloy.
Through the summer months Roaring Spring VFW Post 7689 assisted Terry with help from Senator Casey's office trying to get his DD214 corrected to reflect a Medal that he should have been awarded decades ago.
I would like to announce that last week the mission was completed.
Terry Malloy was awarded his Purple Heart.
We would like to congratulate you on your long overdue award.
We salute you Brother. 🇺🇸

In the United States, National POW/MIA Recognition Day is observed on the third Friday in September.
It honors those who were prisoners of war (POWs) and those who are still missing in action (MIA).
It is most associated with those who were POWs during the Vietnam War.
National Vietnam War Veterans Day is April 29, the date in 1973 when the last US combat troops departed the Republic of Vietnam.
Let us honor National POW/MIA today for those affected and the soldiers that did not make it home.

The Tower of Voices at the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, PA in Somerset County. Which is about a 1 hour drive from our VFW.
Standing 93 feet high, it features a wind chime for each of the 40 individuals who died on Flight 93 when the hijacked plane crashed in the field on that fateful day.
It's often quite windy there at the 2,200-acre park and the sound of those wind chimes is breathtakingly beautiful.
If you have a chance, visit the Flight 93 Memorial and never forget what happened on that tragic day.
