Every nest tells a story, and satellite tracking helps us read it.π’
This season, our research team satellite tagged ten nesting green turtles to better understand what happens after they leave the beach. The big question: How many nests does an individual lay in a season? Tracking their movements can answer that question as well as where they forage, the habitats they rely on, and the migration routes they travel. This valuable research helps advance our understanding of green sea turtle behavior and provides critical information that supports conservation efforts for generations to come.

Sea turtles play a vital role in maintaining healthy ocean ecosystems, from supporting seagrass beds and coral reefs to helping keep marine food webs in balance. Yet every year, they face threats from boat strikes, pollution, habitat loss and so much more.
This summer, remember to respect the locals. Give sea turtles plenty of space, properly dispose of trash, reduce your plastic use, and always practice safe boating.
A healthy ocean starts with protecting the species that help keep it thriving. ππ’
