A New Year is upon us, the closing of one door and the opening of the next. It is with great sadness that we announce the doors of J&R Vintage Auto Museum will be closing in the summer of 2019.

Four years ago this year our beloved owner and family patriarch, Gab Joiner, took his final ride after sixty years of being partners in marriage and driving with the love of his life, Evonna. We have tried to keep things the same without him but he really was the grease that kept us going.

We will be selling most of our cars on the museum floor in auctions and private sales. For more information please visit us on site or email us at [email protected]

Gab left a legacy that can’t be contained in one post. The memories he gave us will live on in our hearts forever. Thank you for being a part of this journey and a part of our family.

Fun Fact Friday: The Ford Thunderbird

Unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show on February 20, 1954, the Ford Thunderbird has a fun and diverse history.

The Thunderbird was originally release as competition to the Chevy Corvette.

President John F. Kennedy loved the Thunderbird so much he had 50 identical Thunderbirds in his inaugural parade and personally owned two.

The Ford Thunderbird has a vast history in NASCAR including its debut in 1959.

The Ford Thunderbird still holds the record for the fastest lap in stock card history at Talladega Speedway (44.998 seconds with an average speed of 212.809 mph).

Bill Elliott won the 1988 NASCAR Championship in a Ford Thunderbird.

Do you know more Ford Thunderbird facts? Share them with us!

We have two Ford Thunderbirds on the museum floor. A 1957 and a 1979. Come in today to see them both!
